Diaconate
The main purpose of the Diaconate is to provide support for the
spiritual welfare of the congregation. That includes praying for each and every
member of the congregation on a regular basis.
In addition, the Diaconate helps many people who need assistance
paying rent, utility bills, and other special needs through the Benevolence
Ministry dispensed at the Salvation Army.
They also are monthly financial supporters of the Mattoon Community
Food Center. The Diaconate also gives memorials to the
church in honor of deceased members or provides a meal for their
family.
These additional responsibilities are not paid for through the
church budget. These expenses are funded solely through the
special Communion Offering envelopes included in the bulletin on
communion Sundays. Please prayerfully remember the
Diaconate and all of those it helps, including you, when you prepare
your communion offering.
